The King's Daughter is a 2022 American activity experience fantasy movie coordinated via Sean McNamara from a screenplay by Barry Berman and James Schamus. It is based on the 1997 novel The Moon and the Sun by Vonda N. McIntyre. The film stars Pierce Brosnan as King Louis XIV, Kaya Scodelario as Marie-Josèphe, and Benjamin Walker as Yves De La Croix.

Head photography started toward the beginning of April 2014 in Versailles, France. After the fourteen-day shoot in France, creation then started on April 23 in Melbourne, Australia. Shooting wrapped up toward the finish of May 2014.

Initially planned to be released in April 2015, the film was deferred just three weeks earlier to finish post-creation effects. It sat in an in-between state for north of five years, until the distribution rights were gained by Gravitas Ventures, which theatrically released it on January 21, 2022. The film got commonly bad reviews from critics.

Movie Story:-
A young lady named Marie-Josèphe, who was brought up in a religious community in France, is a rebellious nonconformist who frequently causes inconvenience for the Abbess. Marie-Josèphe's father, King Louis XIV, fears for his own mortality subsequent to being injured by an assassin's shot, however, is told by Dr. Labarthe about a special submerged animal with mysterious powers that can allow him eternality. Louis sends a gathering of fishermen, drove by Captain Yves De La Croix, to catch the animal, a Mermaid. Her mate is also gotten, yet Yves simply releases him prior to making a beeline for France.

Labarthe tells Louis that the technique to make him eternal involves removing the Mermaid's heart during an eclipse. The just one against this is Father François La Chaise. Per the King's request, La Chaise travels to the cloister to bring Marie-Josèphe back, giving her the impression that she is venturing out to play music in Versailles. After showing up in Versailles, Marie-Josèphe befriends a servant named Magali, yet every other person doesn't realize she is the King's daughter.

The next morning, Louis meets with Jean-Michel Lintillac, son of a well-off nobleman. Lintillac tells Louis that his father is seriously sick and prepared to pass on. Louis discusses with La Chaise that Lintillac stands to acquire a fortune, and passing down his father's title would help everybody. While out for a stroll with Magali, Marie-Josèphe meets Yves and is smitten. She also encounters Lintillac and her father interestingly, however, he still doesn't inform her regarding his relationship with her.

The Mermaid is brought into a chamber underneath the castle. Afterward, as Marie-Josèphe tries to rehearse in her room, she senses a strange vibration and follows the noise to the Mermaid's prison, where she encounters both the animal and Yves. At a fabulous ball the following day, Marie-Josèphe shares a hit on the dance floor with Louis, and later finds him outside illustrating a lady called Louise, telling Marie-Josèphe that she reminds him of her.

Louis appoints Lintillac with the title of Duke and later holds a supper in his honor. After supper, Marie-Josèphe visits the Mermaid again and goes submerged to be closer to her. Yves later takes Marie-Josèphe to ride horses, however, she falls off and severely breaks her arm; Labarthe states that the arm should be excised. Yves brings Marie-Josèphe and Magali to the Mermaid and places Marie-Josèphe in the water, where the Mermaid totally heals Marie-Josèphe's arm. Marie-Josèphe assumes that Louis has carried the Mermaid to France to recuperate the citizens from sicknesses, yet she is informed that the Mermaid is for the King's purpose as it were. She later walks around the yard with Yves, and the two share a kiss.

Louis arranges for Lintillac to wed Marie-Josèphe so that they can share in Lintillac's fortune. He comes clean to Marie-Josèphe about him being her father and afterward tells her that he wants her to wed Lintillac. She refuses and runs away crying, leaving Louis feeling remorseful.

La Chaise goes to visit the Mermaid and, acknowledging she is a sentient being, he confronts Labarthe and Louis, yet both refuse to adjust their perspective. Marie-Josèphe goes to see the Mermaid, who shows her a clairvoyant vision of her catch. In the interim, Yves slips an image of the system under Marie-Josèphe's entryway, making her aware of the King's actual plans for the Mermaid. She confronts Louis, letting him know that she will wed Lintillac assuming he lets the mermaid go, however, he refuses to respect her wishes. As everybody prepares for the wedding, La Chaise and Marie-Josèphe go to the chamber, where Yves is also attempting to get the Mermaid out. They are found by Labarthe, yet they ward him off to give the Mermaid time to escape. Labarthe shoots Yves, who falls into the water and is brought by the escaping Mermaid. Marie-Josèphe gets Labarthe trapped in a water wheel that pulls him submerged, suffocating him.

Marie-Josèphe makes it to the side of a bluff where she has promised to rendezvous with Yves and his group and finds Yves recuperated by the Mermaid. Louis and his men show up and get ready to kill the Mermaid as the eclipse approaches, however giving him the decision to save either his own life or hers, Marie-Josèphe jumps off the precipice and hits the water sufficiently to harm her severely. Louis has no decision except to advise his men to stand down so that the Mermaid can resuscitate Marie-Josèphe. Louis watches Marie-Josèphe and Yves leave, and the Mermaid swims home. La Chaise tells Louis he is currently an incredible king and an extraordinary man.

In the epilog, Marie-Josèphe and Yves sail to find the city of Atlantis so that Marie-Josèphe might rejoin with the Mermaid, and she takes her submerged to see the city very close.
