Michael Nordine of Variety gave the film a negative audit and expressed, "What follows has concealed of everything from Misery to Audition, though with little of either film's indecent grit." Matt Zoller Seitz of RogerEbert.com granted the film one and a half stars, referring to it as "a machine that vows to satisfy specific capacities. Tragically, the craftsmanship is inadequate."
