Unlike deactivating an account, which is temporary, deleting your Instagram account is permanent. Once you delete it, you cannot get your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, or followers back. Here's how to permanently delete your Instagram account:
Important:
- You can only delete your Instagram account through a web browser on a computer or mobile device. You cannot delete it from the Instagram app.
- Before you proceed, you might want to consider downloading a copy of your Instagram information (photos, videos, etc.). You can't access this tool after deleting your account.
Here are the steps to permanently delete your Instagram account:
- Go to https://www.instagram.com/ in a web browser on your computer or mobile device.
- Log in to your Instagram account if you haven't already.
- Go to your profile page by tapping or clicking on your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
- Click on the Profile tab (if you're on a computer) or tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner and then select Profile (if you're on a mobile device).
- Once you're on your profile page, click on Settings (gear icon).
- Scroll down and tap or click on Account Center.
- Then tap or click on Personal Information.
- Next, select Account deletion.
- Instagram will ask you to select a reason why you're deleting your account. Choose a reason or select Something Else if none of the listed options apply.
- After selecting a reason, you'll need to re-enter your Instagram password.
- Finally, click or tap on the Delete Account button to permanently delete your account.
Remember:
- Once you confirm your deletion, your account will be scheduled for removal within 30 days. During this period, your account will be deactivated but not yet permanently deleted. You can still sign back in to your account and cancel the deletion if you change your mind.
- After the 30 days are up, your account and all its content will be permanently deleted.

Open a web browser on your computer and go to the Instagram website: https://www.instagram.com/.
Log in to your Instagram account if you haven't already.
Go to your profile page. There are two ways to do this:

Click on "Settings". It's the gear icon next to your username at the top right corner of your profile page.
Navigate to "Account Center". In the settings menu, scroll down and click on "Account Center".
Select "Personal Information".
Choose "Account deletion".
Pick a reason for deleting your account. Instagram will give you a list of options. Choose the one that best applies to you, or select "Something Else" if none fit perfectly.
Re-enter your Instagram password. This verifies your identity.
Click on the button "Delete Account". This permanently deletes your account.
Important things to remember:
- Once you confirm deletion, your account enters a scheduled removal process that takes 30 days. During this time, your account will be deactivated but not entirely gone. You can still log back in and cancel the deletion if you have a change of heart.
- After 30 days, your account and all its content (photos, videos, comments, likes, etc.) will be permanently deleted. There's no way to get them back.
- Consider downloading a copy of your Instagram information (photos, videos, etc.) before proceeding. You won't be able to access this tool after deleting your account.
